Cash Assistance

HOW IT WORKS

United Needs & Abilities, Inc. (UNA) offers a Cash Assistance Program to help individuals and families get services, equipment, or medications that aren’t covered by insurance or other benefits. This program is designed to support unique, individual needs related to a documented disability even if those needs don’t apply to everyone with that disability.

WHO CAN APPLY?

You are eligible to apply if:

  • You have a verifiable, documented disability
  • You need something not covered by:
  • Insurance
  • State agencies
  • Personal funds
  • You live in one of the 9 counties on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

If all the above are true – you can apply!

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS?

  • UNA staff review every application
  • We contact you or your representative to:
  • Understand the request
  • Explore the best way to meet the need
  • We also check if there are other resources to help

DO I HAVE TO PAY THE MONEY BACK?

NO.

  • Once approved and used for the specific need, you will never be asked to repay the funds
  • This is not a loan
  • Funds are awarded for a specific need, not for general use.
